During the interview Jeff talks about the current MMOs available on consoles are simply ports from their PC counterparts. The console side of MMOs has long been something developers have struggled with only because it has not been really the focus of developers. Furthermore the current MMOs are over saturated with fantasy based MMORPGs that does little to appeal to a wider audience and has deviated from what MMOs really are. MMOs should no matter the genre be a game that connects large amounts of people and creates an entire game community.
It is hard for current developers to accept that, mostly because the current PC based formula has created a strong fanbase and it is risky to try something new. Here is where Undead Labs comes in, Jeff having his own company behind him is now allowed to create games the way he wants it. He will attempt a quality Zombie game that will "give players a home" creating a sense of community and put them through survival situations beyond those of the typical fantasy MMORPG.

At the same time he will be focusing on the console as his platform of choice. He gives the example of Halo during the interview for if a genre is really thought out for a console it will likely be a success.
As a long PC MMO player this is great news. We are absolutely plagued with MMOs following the same if not similar fantasy MMORPG formulas. Its time for a change and its time for people to realize WoW-like games are only a small part of what MMOs are.
